Welcome Incoming Kindergarteners
Dear Incoming Kindergarten Families,
Thank you for visiting our kindergarten earlier this month! It was a pleasure to meet you and your children. We hope you enjoyed exploring our classrooms and learning about the exciting experiences that await your little ones. If you were not able to join, we are looking forward to meeting you soon.
I am following up with some resources to support your child’s transition:

- After School Program Registration: We offer a variety of afterschool programs to enrich your child’s learning experience. You can find more information, including information about how to register, on our school website. Kevin Lewis, SA’s Afterschool Director, is also included on this email if you would like to reach out to him directly.
As a reminder, the first two days of kindergarten (August 26 & 27) are early release days (for kindergarteners only). Students will be dismissed at 11:30am with no afterschool. Wednesdays are early dismissal days each week and dismissal is at 1:50pm. On Thursday and Friday, students will be dismissed at 2:50pm.

SA Variety Show 2024
Sustainability Academy Variety Show
The SA Variety Show is back! Join us on Thursday, April 18 at 5:30 pm at SA. All varieties of acts are welcome: singing, dancing, jokes, skits, poetry, instruments, magic tricks, gymnastics, story telling, and anything else you think of! We are hoping to have as many kids (and any interested parents as well) showcase their interests and talents for an afternoon of fun and community building!

Pancake Breakfast and Silent Auction
Join us on Saturday, April 13! Bring your hungry tummies, good cheer, and bidding energy to the Sustainability Academy’s 16th Annual Pancake Breakfast & Silent Auction.
Arrive early and stay long – our breakfast features delicious pancakes with maple syrup, local cheese, coffee (of course!). Our silent auction features high quality handmade goods and local Vermont products and services.
This event is a perfect opportunity to gather with friends and family, support our school community and the nation’s first sustainability-themed elementary school, and work on any holiday shopping. We look forward to seeing you there!
Suggested donations: $6/adults, $4/kids ages 3-12, $20/family. Kids 2 and under are free.
Parent Teacher Conferences March 21 & 22, 2024
Scheduling for our March Parent Teacher Conferences has begun. Please use the following link to begin the scheduling process:

March 2024 conferences will be both in person and virtual (by request).
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions link below for more information related to virtual conferences using Google Meet. If you need to request a virtual conference or an alternate conference date, please indicate that using the Special Request box in PTC Fast when you sign up for your conference or contact your child’s teacher directly.
(Please note that you may now both register for a conference and attend a virtual conference (created by a BSD staff member) with any email address, it does not need to be a Google email address.)

Winter Break will begin on Monday, February 26 through Tuesday, March 5th.
School will resume on Wednesday, March 6th.

Kindergarten Tours & Registration
Registration for the 24/25 school year is NOW OPEN and closes on April 1, 2024 (after this date, registration is on a rolling basis)
Existing PreK families (including partner PreK) register by going into their PowerSchool Account. Any students new to BSD register by going into the regular pre-registration portal. The deadline to register is April 1, 2024. Read this flyer for information about upcoming school visits.
